Truman
Hello!
We adopted Truman, our eight-year-old Italian greyhound, a month ago. He quickly became the king of our house after taking nearly no time to adjust to our home and work schedules. Truman enjoys being a couch potato and snuggling up with his mom and grandmother. He has traveled all over the state, attended his mother's graduation ceremony from the University of Florida, and pranced his way around his new town of Stuart. Our neighbors loved Truman so much that they ended up rescuing an Italian greyhound as well! Truman is such a socialite. People are always asking about his breed and giving him compliments about how handsome he is. He was the perfect fit for our home and our family. Truman has brought such joy into our lives! We love our tiny prancer.

Viola
Hi Kathy,
Thanks for the follow up on Viola. I am happy to report that this little girl is adjusting really well. Her new name is Claire. She is playful and sweet and fits right in. She loves going on walks and to the park, and loves to snuggle with us. Our biggest worry was how she would get along with our elderly cat who has a lot of health problems and gets stressed very easily. From the moment she entered the house Claire must have felt that it was right to leave the cat alone. Now both happily share the same couch, sitting on opposite ends - something I thought could never happen. Claire loves our two guinea pigs Fifi and Bambi. She greets them every morning and showers them with love and kisses. Claire has made many friends in the neighborhood - both human and dogs. Her best friend is our neighbor's Labrador. Clair seems to prefer bigger dogs to dogs her own size. She has been to the vet and is going back next week for her booster shots. In her adoption papers it said that her rabies shot papers would be mailed to us. Could you please follow up and please let me know when we can expect them?
I have attached 2 pictures of Claire doing her favorite thing - running and playing with us in the park.
Thank you for bringing Claire into our lives. She brings a lot of joy and happiness to our family! Little did I know that a trip to PetsMart for guinea pig food would end up with a puppy that is so loving and sweet. :-)

Elliot
Hello Kathy,
I just wanted to update you on the life long journey that Cody
(formerly Elliot) ad myself have just started on together. What can I
say... he is one crazy pup!
Cody's 5 favorite things are 1) his Batman squeaky chew toy; 2) a 9"
dog bone that is almost as big as him; 3) chewing on peoples hands; 4)
playing fetch; and 5) cuddling (which is definitely his favorite out
of all of them).
He is such a loveable puppy! I could tell from day one, actually
within the first 5 minutes when he fell asleep in my lap while filling
out his paperwork, that Cody was going to be a cuddle bug. No matter
if we are on the couch, going to bed, or sitting on the park bench you
can find him cuddled up either in my lap or with his head on me. If he
is not cuddling he is giving kisses. Cody is such a sweetheart and he
knows how to melt a heart.
Although new to it, Cody loves going to the dog park. Since we live in
an apartment there is not a lot of room to run around, although we do
play fetch outside sometimes, so we usually go to the dog park a
couple times a week. It took a little time, but he quickly became
comfortable around the other small dogs, and he often antagonizes them
to run and play with him. It's not only small dogs that he plays with,
but he is also becoming friends with a couple of my friend's big dogs,
a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Doberman Pincher. It's very funny watching
them interact together.
Cody is one very smart puppy. He is already crate trained, he is doing
very well with his house training (only having accidents when I
neglect to watch his clues better), and "come" and "sit" are the
newest commands that he has learned. Not only is he smart, but he is
very inquisitive. Cody loves getting into things and causing mischief.
It makes things very exciting around the home, and I love this crazy
little puppy.
Thank you and all of your volunteers for all that you do. It is
because of people like yourselves that happy endings like ours are
possible. I'm sure that Cody and I will see you guys at some of the
events that you put on, hopefully at the upcoming Abacoa one, and we
will definitely continue to follow you on Facebook and post updates
and pictures.
Sincerely,
Shawn and Cody
Tessa
Hi - thank you for the follow-up. Tessa is doing well. Although we are still working on her potty training and jumping she is trying really hard to be good! we hope to have her in some obedience classes soon. She and my 4 year old dog still get along as well. we sometimes leave them in the cage together to keep one another company when we leave the house (Jake normally stays loose upstairs in the house).
thank you and have a wonderful 2014!

Hercules
At birth named Hercules but renamed Ranger on 11/2, which we think fits him just right. He responds well to his new name and fits perfectly with our family and two other older dogs. He is a character, full of puppy energy and personality and we love him!
He goes to the dog park almost daily and has made many friends. It is the best hour spent each day because he comes home and relaxes and sleeps the deep sleep that only puppies can do after lots of activity.
He is so bright---he learned the first weekend with clear commands and treat rewards that getting on the couch, chairs and yes, the top of the table was not acceptable. He now obeys sit, shake hands, down, wait, and 80% of the time come and heel. The last two commands are great with no distractions, but …
Thanks for following up. We couldn’t imagine our home without Ranger in it.
And, thank you Deana Hicks for finding us such a great match.
